Parachute Jump

Jo has decided that for her 30th Birthday in 2012 she would like to do a parachute jump and is inviting people to join her.  It costs about £130 which we expect the individuals to pay out of their own pocket so that all the sponsorship money comes directly to the charity.  We just think this is fair if people are sponsoring you to do something.  Please call Jo if you are interested.

Open Garden

We are seeking a beautiful garden with good accessibility to hold a fundraising event – can you help?  contact us if you can! Thank you.

Past Events

Winter Ball

We had a fantastic night on Friday 18th November at Leeford Place Hotal.  The Lucky Ones were brilliant and this year the venue was really lovely and warm!   Karen Austin had decorated it in white and lilac drapes with fairy lights in them, which looked really pretty.  Fleur de Lynn, Bellhurst Beauties and Balloons for events helped finish the look off with table flower and balloon arrangements, thanks to Martin who collected and delivered the balloons for us.  Lots of the guests had their photo taken with 1066 Photography so they had a memory of the night and how great they all looked.   We raised £666 from the ticket sales, £240 from selling raffle tickets and on the Auction we took £590 so in total we raised £1496!  Andy Knight did a great job hosting the Auction, the winners were:

Champagne Hot air Balloon ride for 2 – Jamie Cosson

A nights stay for 2 at Zanzibar International Hotel with a Champagne breakfast – Simon Bendle

A signed and framed photograph of a Kingfishertaken near Burwash by Dale Sutton  – Sue Palmer

A Forever Living Products make-up Consultation with a free Lipstick  – Rhiannon Oliver

One to one Pilates or Yoga  session  – Jo Oliver

10 Zumba lessons – Rob Channon

A trailing flower arrangement – Kim Clarke

Our special thanks to Peter Marshall, Max O’Rourke, 1066 Photography, Alison Purves, Al Corkran, Claire from Paragon Personal Training and Rhiannon from Bellhurst Beauties for all their Auction prizes.  We deeply appreciate their support and kindness.

Bexhill Sainsbury’s Collection day

Well done to all the volunteers who helped over the weekend of the 6th & 7th August.  We did really well at Bexhill Sainsbury’s not only raising £406.81 but also promoting the service to local Carers and recruiting some new volunteers.  So in all it was a very successful weekend!

Charity Clay Shoot

Thank you to everyone who supported this year’s Charity Clay Shoot, in Broad Oak on Sunday July 3rd.  We had lots of lovely positive comments about the day and thankfully it was a beautiful summers day.  We had over 80 people attend and through their generousity we raised  £1613.80!

A special thanks must go to Brede Shooting Club, especially David, Gareth, Robin for arranging and setting up and to Shirley and Mike for working so hard all day on the Have-a-go stand.  We would also like to thank Nick and Margaret Jeffrey for the use of their land and to our generous sponsors Kingsview Optical, Frymans Feeds (local animal and bird, including pheasant feed suppliers) and Channon’s Country Store, we are very grateful for their support which has allowed us to promote the event more effectively.

Remembering Yesterday

Sarah and her musical friends led a fantastic afternoon of dancing and singing along with the Golden Oldies from the old time musicals and 1920′s-1960′s with a Cream Tea at Leeford Place on Sunday 5th June for all the Carers and their cared for and anyone else who wished to come to Celebrate Carers week.  The event which was free for our Carers and their cared for raised £231, thank you to everyone who helped on the day and supplied raffle prizes.

Winter Ball

The winter Ball turned out to be a proper winter Ball, with the temperature plummeting, as forecasted, to below zero and snow falling only 10 miles away, it was a chilly night it could be said!   Everyone arrived, all dressed up and looking wonderful, ready for a  fantastic night.  Sadly though the temperature inside the marquee wasn’t much warmer than the temperature outside and every time a heater was plugged in the power went off!  The food was lovely and the band was ok )but the heating situation never improved.

I am so sorry for putting everyone who came through the evening and I just want to say thank you so much for supporting us, I was assured on the Thursday before the Ball that the heating would be more than  adequate.  I was bitterly disappointed that it wasn’t and that the managers present that night didn’t even have the decency to apologise to you all.  I am especially sorry to those who have poor health and to the  people from Australia.  We had been in talks with the Managing Director from Bannatynes in regard to compensation, not for us, but for all the guests who attended, but they we never came to an agreement.  In the end they sent us the money they owed us  and we can tell you we raised £1266.51 after expenses had been paid out.   Thank you again for everyone who supported us.

Forever living Products

Thank you to Alison Purves who in November gave a perctage of her takings to the Association of Carers which came to £18.48 and she also held an open day for us in September which raised £32.37 – Thanks Alison!

 Paint balling

Thank you to 1066 Paintballing and all who came on 12th September, it was a painful experience but we raised £155.

Autumn Sale

It was a sad sale this year as it was our last ever at  Filsham Hall and at the end we handed Sister Lucy and Joan Inskipp a  bouquet of flowers and thanked them for their help and support over the years.  We had a  good turn out this year and lots of exciting things including Forever Living Products, which raised £18.48 and thank you so much to everyone who baked cakes for us they alone raised £ 66.50 , the most since I came to work for the AoC in March 2008!  In total the sale raised £445.58

Young Carers

Thank you to the Thornton Lodge who raised an amazing £2625 for us this year through fundraising activities.  We also received £450 from the Wellington Lodge ( these are both Masonic Lodges).  We have also been given £200 from coffee and Company who meet in Rush Lake Green and  a further £141 from Elaine Copeland who held a raffle to raise the money.

Hastings Half Marathon – 21st March 2010

John Pasco, Sue Palmer and Jo Oliver all did the Hastings half this year, we are still collecting the sponsorship but so far we have collectively raised £648 plus Gift Aid on top!  Thank you to everyone who supported us by sponsoring us.

Frog Racing Night – corporate & public entertainment

We held on Thursday 21st Januray our first frog race, thank you goes to our sponsors, Kingsview Optical, Venuu, Astec computing, Fast Print and Studio Hastings and to all those who turned up!  In the end we raised £298 which is going towards our Young Carers project.  Please note no frogs were harmed during the event all frogs were wooden shapes, painted to look something like a frog with string through their heads!

Thank you to all the Volunteers who helped Collect money over the last year, it isn’t as easy this year with the recession hitting Hastings which was already a deprived area so thank you for your time and effort. We have raised from collections the amounts as follows : Jempson Peasmarsh £152,  Rye Budgens £234 and Battle Budgens £1663.77, Marks and Spencers £310.48, Bexhill Tesco £400!  THANK YOU!!!

Our Fundraising Target for 2011/2012

We are very fortunate and a majority of the money we need to run our respite service comes from East Sussex County Coucil, but we are now having to become less reliant on this one funding stream.  Our total running costs this year are predicted to be £129, 500.  Last year we needed to raise an additional £34,000 for new, volunteers training and travel costs and our social occassions.  Thank you to everyone who help us achieve this amount so far.  Next year we

In total we need to find an extra  £36,500 on top of the Money given by the Local Authorities.
