Parachute JumpJo has decided that for her 30th Birthday in 2012 she would like to do a parachute jump and is inviting people to join her. It costs about £130 which we expect the individuals to pay out of their own pocket so that all the sponsorship money comes directly to the charity. We just think this is fair if people are sponsoring you to do something. Please call Jo if you are interested. Open GardenWe are seeking a beautiful garden with good accessibility to hold a fundraising event – can you help? contact us if you can! Thank you. Past EventsWinter BallWe had a fantastic night on Friday 18th November at Leeford Place Hotal. The Lucky Ones were brilliant and this year the venue was really lovely and warm! Karen Austin had decorated it in white and lilac drapes with fairy lights in them, which looked really pretty. Fleur de Lynn, Bellhurst Beauties and Balloons for events helped finish the look off with table flower and balloon arrangements, thanks to Martin who collected and delivered the balloons for us. Lots of the guests had their photo taken with 1066 Photography so they had a memory of the night and how great they all looked. We raised £666 from the ticket sales, £240 from selling raffle tickets and on the Auction we took £590 so in total we raised £1496! Andy Knight did a great job hosting the Auction, the winners were: Champagne Hot air Balloon ride for 2 – Jamie Cosson A nights stay for 2 at Zanzibar International Hotel with a Champagne breakfast – Simon Bendle A signed and framed photograph of a Kingfishertaken near Burwash by Dale Sutton – Sue Palmer A Forever Living Products make-up Consultation with a free Lipstick – Rhiannon Oliver One to one Pilates or Yoga session – Jo Oliver 10 Zumba lessons – Rob Channon A trailing flower arrangement – Kim Clarke Our special thanks to Peter Marshall, Max O’Rourke, 1066 Photography, Alison Purves, Al Corkran, Claire from Paragon Personal Training and Rhiannon from Bellhurst Beauties for all their Auction prizes. We had lots of lovely positive comments about the day and thankfully it was a beautiful summers day. We had over 80 people attend and through their generousity we raised £1613.80! A special thanks must go to Brede Shooting Club, especially David, Gareth, Robin for arranging and setting up and to Shirley and Mike for working so hard all day on the Have-a-go stand. We would also like to thank Nick and Margaret Jeffrey for the use of their land and to our generous sponsors Kingsview Optical, Frymans Feeds (local animal and bird, including pheasant feed suppliers) and Channon’s Country Store, we are very grateful for their support which has allowed us to promote the event more effectively. Remembering YesterdaySarah and her musical friends led a fantastic afternoon of dancing and singing along with the Golden Oldies from the old time musicals and 1920′s-1960′s with a Cream Tea at Leeford Place on Sunday 5th June for all the Carers and their cared for and anyone else who wished to come to Celebrate Carers week. On top on this she raised £543.66 which is simply fantasic and hopefully worth all the agony!
Frog RaceThank you to Forestheath Engineering Ltd. for being this year’s main sponsor for the Frog Race on March 3rd. Fast Print, Burstow and Hewett, John the cobbler, Astec Computing also sponsored the events races with Hastings Brewery and Sambalanco sponsoring a frog each. Well done everyone for buying and selling your tickets which paid for the Christmas lunch and for anyone not within Young Carers to go to the Panto. We sold £2081 worth of tickets and at the ball we drew 10 tickets with 1st Prize (£250) going to Mark Tanner, Hastings and 2nd Prize (Large Hamper) was won by Edna Luck, Bexhill, Thank you to all who gave prizes for the raffle - Lions Club of Hastings, Hastings Round Table, Hastings Welsh society, Bannatyne’s spa Hotel, Rye Lions Club, Hastings and St Leonards Muffin Club, 2nd Nature, fleur de Lynn, Tesco and Sainsbury’s and members of the Association of Carers Winter BallThe winter Ball turned out to be a proper winter Ball, with the temperature plummeting, as forecasted, to below zero and snow falling only 10 miles away, it was a chilly night it could be said! Everyone arrived, all dressed up and looking wonderful, ready for a fantastic night. Sadly though the temperature inside the marquee wasn’t much warmer than the temperature outside and every time a heater was plugged in the power went off! The food was lovely and the band was ok )but the heating situation never improved. I am so sorry for putting everyone who came through the evening and I just want to say thank you so much for supporting us, I was assured on the Thursday before the Ball that the heating would be more than adequate. I was bitterly disappointed that it wasn’t and that the managers present that night didn’t even have the decency to apologise to you all. I am especially sorry to those who have poor health and to the people from Australia. We had been in talks with the Managing Director from Bannatynes in regard to compensation, not for us, but for all the guests who attended, but they we never came to an agreement. In the end they sent us the money they owed us and we can tell you we raised £1266.51 after expenses had been paid out. Thank you again for everyone who supported us. Forever living ProductsThank you to Alison Purves who in November gave a perctage of her takings to the Association of Carers which came to £18.48 and she also held an open day for us in September which raised £32.37 – Thanks Alison!
